OPCO launches the BSL 396 Supply Vessel

The turnkey order from Bharati Shipyard to construct BSL-396-SV supply vessel was completed when OPCO successfully launched the vessel on November 10.

The first steel beam of the vessel was cut on May 3, 2010; and on July 5, the first hull block was installed. Only after six months, the deckhouse was fitted and the vessel was launched. This is a remarkable record because the same construction would have taken four more months to complete if done by competitors.

BSL-396-SV is an AHTS, short for Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel, with 80 tons of bollard pull and the top sailing speed of 14.0 knots. The vessel is 64.8 meters long, 15.7 meters wide, and 5.8 meters high. AHTS vessels are designed to supply oil rigs, tow them to location, anchor them up and, in a few cases, serve as an emergency rescue and recovery vessel. The BSL-396-SV is equipped with a large in-hull tank to carry the dredge from underwater drilling.

The BSL-396-SV is scheduled to be delivered to Bharati Shipyard late December, and this project is expected to be a stepping stone for OPCO’s sales activities in India.
