OPCO hosts a Keel Laying Ceremony for Hanjin 10K Coal Carrier

A keel laying ceremony to install the first hull block for Hanjin 10K Coal Carrier was held by Oriental Precision & Engineering (“OPCO” KOSDAQ 014940). OPCO received the order for the coal carrier last April from Hanjin.

The ceremony took place on Friday the October 29th at OPCO’s Jinhae facility No. 2, and about fifty attendants were present to witness the event, including the general director Mr. Shin from Hanjin; five of the inspecting officers from Korean Register of Shipping; the OPCO CEO Mr. Suh; Mr. Kwon, the OPCO vice-president; and other executives and staff members. The ceremony accompanied a traditional prayer service, tape cutting, and a photo session.

This project, to build the 108.7-meter long, 24-meter wide, 12.9-meter high, 10,000-ton mid-size coal carrier, is dubbed HJ-1005-COC. The ship is scheduled to be delivered to Hanjin late 2011.

OPCO has recently completed and delivered a heavy cargo carrier early October, and the projects for the construction of a deck cargo vessel, a supply vessel, and a coal carrier are currently under way.
