OPCO Hosts Steel Cutting Ceremony for Dongbu’s Caisson Floating Dock
May 2, 2011. Oriental Precision & Engineering (“OPCO”) held a steel cutting ceremony for the 15,000-TLC Caisson floating dock at its Jinhae facility. OPCO received the order from Dongbu Corp. last March; and the ceremony accompanied a traditional prayer service and a group photo shoot.
The floating dock is 72 meters long, 52 meters wide, and 26 meters high, with 15,000 TLC (Ton Lifting Capacity). The caissons are prefabricated box-shape concrete components with cylinders that are used in the rapid construction method of building floating docks, bridges, and seawalls.
With OPCO’s experience in building many different marine vessels including accommodation barges, heavy cargos, and coal carriers, the company expects to complete the construction and deliver the product by the end of October this year.
