OPCO hosts a christening ceremony for DBNG H804 Heavy Cargo Carrier
On Thursday the September 16, 2010, Oriental Precision & Engineering (“OPCO” hereinafter) has hosted a christening ceremony for DBNG H804 Heavy Cargo Carrier.
About fifty attendants were present at the ceremony to witness the christening, and among the attendants were Mr. Hong Gyeong-hoon, the regional president from the client company Dongbang’s Masan Regional Headquarters; Mr. Kwon, the vice president of OPCO; Mr. Kim, the president of Oriental Heavy Industries; and the directors and employees from the above mentioned companies. The christening accompanied speeches by each company’s representative and a photo session.
The DBNG-H804-HCC carrier was appropriately named “Dongbang Giant 3,” for its gigantic dimensions of 151 meters in length, 38 meters in width, and the 8-meter depth. This one-year project was OPCO’s first self-propulsion barge project—the vessel’s construction began on August 2009. To be delivered to Dongbang next month after a delivery signing ceremony, the Dongbang Giant 3 is a transport whose cargo will include heavy, large-size marine vessels and offshore structures.
Heavy cargo carriers are OPCO’s new business frontier; and with the successful completion of the DBNG H804 project, the company is expecting the heavy cargo carriers to be a great market opportunity.
