OPCO hosts a keel laying ceremony for its heavy cargo carrier
Oriental Precision & Engineering (“OPCO” hereinafter) held a keel laying ceremony for the heavy cargo carrier DB-H804 at its Gwang-yang Facility on November 16, 2009. The order for the DB-H804 Heavy Cargo Carrier was received last June from Dongbang; and the representatives from both companies attended the ceremony.
Laying the keel, or placing the keel in the cradle in which the engineers build the ship, is a momentous event in the vessel’s construction because the keel is a large beam around which shipbuilders make the hull of a ship, and it is generally the first part of the vessel to be constructed.
