OPCO hosts a launching ceremony for the Hanjin 10K Coal Carrier
March 19, 2011. Oriental Precision & Engineering (“OPCO”) has delivered the 10,000 DWT-class HJ-H1005 Coal Carrier to Hanjin at its Jinhae 2 facility. The order for the carrier came in last April 2010 from Hanjin.
The ship’s first block was set in place on October 29, 2010, and the last of the 77 hull blocks was installed on March 5th this year to complete the 110-meter vessel.
The ceremony was witnessed by Hanjin’s director Sung-il Lee and ten of his staffs, a ship-class inspector, and about 50 executives and workers from OPCO. The attendants had a chance to see the inside of the deck house which was fitted later the same day; and the ship was launched with the floating cranes, followed by a group photo session.
The ship will go through a month of outfitting before she’s test driven.
