OPCO delivers hosts a delivery ceremony for BSL 397 Supply Vessel
February 20, 2011. Oriental Precision & Engineering (“OPCO”) held a delivery ceremony for BSL-397-SV supply vessel, ordered by Bharati Shipyard for full turn-key delivery.
About 70 present at the ceremony were the Bharati representatives and the officers from a classification body, and the staffs and workers including Mr. Seo, the CEO of OPCO. The event had a tape cutting ceremony, a walk-around inspection, and followed by a briefing by the OPCO reps; then the OPCO workers and staffs were given an appreciation speech at the reception.
The construction for BSL 397 began when the first steel beam was cut on July 5, 2010; the keel for the first hull block was laid down on the dock on September 16; and the entire ship frame was finished with the installation of the deck house after it was launched by the crane vessel.
OPCO made a successful delivery of BSL 396, the sister ship to BSL 397, to Bharati last December; and the hull block and the deck house were also sent to India on board the DBNG-H804-HCC heavy cargo carrier built by OPCO in January this year.
With the 9-month BSL project officially ending with the ceremony, OPCO expects to strengthen its position in the Indian market.
BSL-397-SV is an anchor handling tug supply vessel for a larger vessel with 80-ton Bollard pull. The vessel is 64.8 meters long, 15.7 meters high, with the maximum sail speed of 14 knots. The ship is equipped with a large tank, which allows the ship to be used for transporting the earth from underwater dredge sites.
